Food in Japan

No.2854237 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hi guys, I will travel to Japan soon and I need tips for foods and / or restaurants located in the following places:
>Tokyo
Ueno and Kagurazaka mostly.
>Hakone
>Kyoto
Gion mostly.
I need to know essential local foods and restaurants to try on a medium budget, so I'm searching for nothing too expensive, but I'm also not broke at all. Thanks for any suggestions!

25 year old dude, want to do a solo trip

No.2854364 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Want to do a solo trip

Just turned 25, I’m balding and single and lowkey don’t have a whole lot exciting going on. I am a military officer and have saved up to take about a week of leave starting the last week of march. I’ve decided to do a solo trip ala Russillo.

I’m not going abroad to try and hook up with a girl in a bar (but not totally opposed if it happens and there’s a genuine emotional connection), mainly just looking for an interesting experience but also to go somewhere more obscure than the average tourist.

I live on the East Coast of the US. My first choice was gonna be somewhere in Mexico since I speak pretty good gringo Spanish but after recent events I don’t think that’d be approved by my chain of command, along with anywhere else in Latin America with the exception of maybe Argentina. I deployed to Asia and the Middle East and loved it there, but don’t really feel like flying that far. Caribbean I’m going to say is a no-go because it’s going to be spring break. So I guess that leaves me with going to either Europe or somewhere in Africa. I’d like to go to Spain but like, it’s just going to be completely mobbed with Americans then and I want to do something a little more adventurous. I listened to the entire Iceland podcast and thought it sounded neat, but what if I get there and get bored??

I have a ton of credit card points so the flight anywhere would be free, and I’m only out for a week so the budget is kinda irrelevant. I’m not looking to stay in a five star resort, just looking for a private hotel room with clean sheets lol.

Any of you guys have advice?

/tpg/ /rcg/ - Theme Park & Roller Coaster General

No.2850726 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Animatronic Michelangelo edition

>Last Thread: >>2844519

>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?
/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney/Universal discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.

Central Asia (the Stans) general

I want to visit here. Mainly Kazakhstan, but I'd like to eventually see all of them.
What do I need to know in order to prepare myself? I'm an American who's only traveled in first world, highly English-speaking western countries before.
Are these countries cheap? What are the must see places? Do I need a tour guide? Are the cities as lively as the western world? How strict Muslim are they? Is it possible to pick up chicks here?
